The key to any association is the people that make up the network. From lawyers and banking professionals, to commercial cannabis business owners and all who fall in between, the Association of Certified Commercial Cannabis Experts is proud of the diverse and expanding network of professionals and experts we who are our members. To show our appreciation for the exceptional individuals in our community, we are highlighting ACCCE member Megan Carmody this week. Please reach out and connect with her!

Megan is a BSA officer and manager, working in financial crimes and compliance for a FinTech company and is currently responsible for assessing and managing AML/BSA and compliance related risks. She attended The University of Colorado Colorado Springs where she completed a Bachelor of Science in health sciences. Megan is also a certified anti-money laundering specialist.

Being an experienced anti-money laundering specialist, she is passionate about creating and implementing policies and procedures that embody the “compliance as a competitive advantage” approach within all segments of the financial service industry such as payments, accounting, payroll, invoicing, and also the new emerging sectors such as the commercial cannabis industry. In a complex regulatory environment that can be difficult to navigate, staying at the forefront of standardization and staying abreast of the changes in the ever-evolving climate is of great importance to Megan. To say the least, Megan Carmody is a valuable member of the FinTech community.

Megan first heard about the Association of Certified Commercial Cannabis Experts through networking events within the Denver, Colorado region. She plans on taking the Certified Commercial Cannabis Expert exam because she believes “it will make me a more well-rounded compliance professional and the knowledge I will gain will allow me to strengthen my skills in working with a rapidly growing industry.”  Megan recognizes that proper risk identification and categorization can allow organizations to react proactively rather reactively allows the organization to make appropriate decisions to stay within their desired risk appetite.

Megan currently resides in the Downtown Denver area with her fiancé and their 5 year old boxer-mastiff mix, Emma. All three of them are avid hikers and take full advantage of their proximity to the great outdoors! Last weekend, Megan, alongside her companions, hiked Quandary peak—their first 14er! She is also a self-proclaimed travel junkie, taking at least two international trips every year. Megan is a foodie and enjoys winding down with the perfect glass of wine.

ACCCE is proud to have an esteemed member like Megan Carmody as a part of our association. As our community continues to grow, we find it important to thank our members for their commitment to professionalizing the commercial cannabis industry. Thank you, Megan, for being such an important part of the cannabis community. Together, we are a part of something great.
