The key to any association is the people that make up the network. From lawyers and banking professionals, to commercial cannabis business owners and all who fall in between, the Association of Certified Commercial Cannabis Experts is proud of the diverse and expanding network of professionals and experts we who are our members. To show our appreciation for the exceptional individuals in our community, we are highlighting ACCCE member Tanya Officer this week. Please reach out and connect with her here https://www.linkedin.com/in/tanya-officer-788242a9/!
Tanya Officer is a CAMS certified professional currently serving as a Know Your Customer (KYC) specialist within the banking industry. Tanya has spent the last 16 years actively working with clients both domestic and international to implement and execute on their own anti-money laundering programs and provides guidance where needed to identify and mitigate risk. She studied business administration at Middlesex University in England where she earned a bachelor’s degree.
Tanya has extensive knowledge on anti-money laundering (AML) policy and has served as a subject matter expert in the development and execution of several training initiatives relating to AML and believes that the knowledge she gains from ACCCE compliments her existing experience around money laundering risk management. Tanya always thought she would end up working more on the business side of things, but early on in her career, she was introduced to compliance, which required working closely with the central bank to formalize an AML monitoring process. Since then, she has worked in various related positions to include software development. To say the least, the banking industry is fortunate to have Tanya as a part of their team.
“ACCCE seems to be on the front end of providing vital training and information needed to manage the inherent risk that comes with this type of emerging market.”
Tanya Officer
Tanya first heard about the Association of Certified Commercial Cannabis Experts through a former colleague and is currently studying to become an ACCCE Certified Commercial Cannabis Expert (CCCE). “ACCCE seems to be on the front end of providing vital training and information needed to manage the inherent risk that comes with this type of emerging market.” Tanya also believes that, without risk management, businesses are susceptible to many negatives, and that ACCCE’s risk management principles provide good risk mitigation practices that are helpful in providing a risk-based approach to businesses who work with the growing commercial cannabis industry and want to reduce exposure to the associated risk.
Tanya has two children, ages 12 and 4. She was born in Jamaica and lived on and off in England, where she completed her education and started her career. She currently resides in New York and prefers temperatures north of 80 degrees. In her free time, Tanya enjoys introducing her children to new experiences and losing herself in books about faraway places. Whenever possible, Tanya loves indulging in self-care, from meditation to long walks, and can make the best mac and cheese you’ve ever had! She is passionate about being charitable to the elderly and children because she believes they are especially vulnerable and deserving of extra care and consideration.
ACCCE is proud to have an esteemed member like Tanya Officer as a part of our association. As our community continues to grow, we find it important to thank our members for their commitment to professionalizing the commercial cannabis industry. Thank you, Tanya, for being such an important part of the cannabis community. Together, we are a part of something great.
